The remaining family members of war victims in the eastern province of Kunar called on the current government to provide them with humanitarian assistance as they are struggling with severe economic challenges.

Azam Khan, 60, is a father of sons who lost their lives in a suicide bombing in Asadabad, the provincial capital. His fourth son was wounded in the same bombing. The four brothers were working as vendors in the capital city, according to Azam Khan.

“My four sons were working and going to school. On this day, they all came together when this incident happened,” Azam Khan said.

“It was a difficult tragedy. My three sons were killed, and their widows are left behind. It was the end of the world for us--when my three sons were laid to rest,” Azam Khan’s wife said.

The family members of the victims called on the government to provide educational facilities for the orphans.

“My husband was martyred. I have four children, two daughters and two sons” said, the widow.

Azam Khan said there is no one in the family to take care of the orphans and widows. He said that his three sons were the breadwinners of the family and that now he has been struggling with severe economic challenges.
