The Islamic Emirate delegates led by acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi today in Doha met with the designated ambassadors and other envoys from 16 countries and discussed issues related to Afghanistan.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Abdul Qahar Balkhi said many of the ambassadors and envoys came from European countries, and there were also representatives from the United States, Australia and Canada.

The delegates discussed security, and also the humanitarian, economic, political and health issues facing Afghanistan, Balkhi said.

“The delegates reiterated that humanitarian and health support should be provided to Afghanistan and that problems should be resolved through dialogue,” Balkhi tweeted.

The Islamic Emirate delegates said they will cooperate with aid agencies to deliver aid to the people and they urged the countries to reopen their embassies in Kabul.

According to Balkhi, countries represented in today’s meeting in Doha included: Germany, Canada, Finland, New Zealand, Italy, South Korea, Spain, the United States, Norway, Sweden, Netherland, Australia, UK, and Japan. An EU official also attended, he said.
