The leader of Pakistan's Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman, said that a government will be placed in Pakistan that will have friendly relations with Afghanistan.

Relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan have recently become tense over the issues of Tehrik-e Taliban Pakistan and Afghan refugees, Fazl-ul Rehman told a gathering in the Morwat area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He criticized the US for interference in relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan.

“Today, there are plots around the world to create fighting and hostility. We said that there will be no hostility between these two countries and that they will remain close friends,” he said.

The Islamic Emirate’s spokesman, Zabiullah Mujahid, said that the relations between Kabul and Islamabad are still tense.

“We have good relations with them. However, some of the tensions that were created, they need to be solved,” he said.

Meanwhile, the political analysts said that Pakistan is not independent in its politics regarding Afghanistan.
“One issue which Maulana Fazl-ul Rehman said is right is that the previous Pakistani governments were against

Afghanistan and they didn’t want goodwill for Afghanistan. But his remarks regarding the formation of a new government in Pakistan that will have good relations with Afghanistan, are inaccurate,” said Aziz Maarij, international relations analyst.

“Unfortunately, Pakistan doesn’t have independence. During the past several decades, our national interest was not important for them,” said Mohammad Zalmai Afghanyar, a political analyst.

Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman, the leader of Pakistan's Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam party, while accompanied by a delegation of clerics visited Afghanistan in early January and met with various members of the Islamic Emirate including the supreme leader.
